We hosted local S5 High School students at the Octopus Centre this week for their English lesson. They have been learning the art of debate in class, and chose themselves to debate a local topic: a new mega open-cage salmon farm off the North-East coast of Arran.
They asked their teacher if it was possible for them to do the debate at our Centre, as COAST are a core objector to the application. We were delighted to accommodate their request, and they spent an afternoon debating the pros and con’s of the application. COAST volunteers on duty were most impressed, and were able to provide knowledge to visitors who came to the centre whilst this was going on.
