It is part of SEPA’s remit to protect the marine environment. They regulate fin fish farms through permits that limit the pollutants discharged to the water environment and, where appropriate, the amount of water which can be abstracted.
On the 25 January 2024 they received an application from MOWI Scotland Limited, for a variation to an existing licence, which was opened for public consultation.
