The Joint Fisheries Statement (JFS) was developed by the four UK fisheries policy authorities (The UK Government’s Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Scottish Ministers, the Welsh Ministers, and the Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland), as required by the Fisheries Act 2020.
The JFS is intended to set out the UK overarching policy direction from within which the future direction of fisheries management will be developed by relevant fisheries policy authorities.
