On Sunday 5th January 2020, The Guardian newspaper published an article highlighting the calls from the coalition #OurSeas, formed of community, fishing and marine protection groups who want to see fish stocks recovered in Scottish waters.
The Times newspaper released an article on January 2nd 2020 titled "Anger over plans for salmon farm on Isle of Arran".
On 31st December 2019, The Guardian newspaper released an article titled "Protests at plans for salmon farm near Lochranza, on Arran".
Following a month of public consultation, North Ayrshire Council (NAC) received approximately 456 replies to the Scottish Salmon Company's application for a 5000 tonne open-cage salmon farm off Millstone Point, Arran. Almost 94% of responses were in objection to the development.
On the 15th September 2019, the Arran community rallied together and protested against the Scottish Salmon Company's (SSC) mega-farm proposal off Millstone Point, North Arran.
On Friday 1st November, Channel 4 News covered the illegal dredging which took place in the Wester Ross Marine Protected Area (MPA) in July this year.
