Diving surveys in Lamlash Bay found that juvenile scallops are more abundant with the NTZ. This was explained by increased spat settlement in complex benthic habitats such as maerl and seaweed. Adult scallop size, age and biomass was greater in the NTZ, but their abundance was the same.
