Coast give presentations across Britain

Members of COAST have become very used to giving presentation on the island, from primary schools to the Rotary.  In 2007 we received many invitations to give talks from all over the UK

YORK - In February, Howard Wood of COAST gave a presentation in York at a workshop and seminar organised by The Marine Biological Association and Natural England to set up a Virtual MPA website.

The virtual UK MPA Centre will act as a resource for information and news on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the UK.

Howard’s talk was about the COAST campaign and the need for community involvement at the very beginning of planning a Marine Protected Area.

ISLE OF MAN - Howard Wood & Tom Vella-Boyle travelled to the Isle of Man in March at the invitation of Fiona Gell of the Isle of Man Government. Both Tom & Howard gave a presentation, using COAST’s new film, at the Port Erin Arts Centre. Besides explaining about COAST’s campaign for a M.P.A., it was a chance to thank the scientists and people of Port Erin for the very important work done at the now closed Port Erin Marine research facility. Their research into closed area for scallops has been crucial in the  progression of the joint COAST and CFA project.
