On the 5th August the annual farmers show took place in Lamlash and despite very muddy conditions we were blessed by sunshine.
COAST had a stall in a marquee displaying posters, leaflets, photos and general information on the work of the group. As well as giving people insight into the specific aims of COAST and discussing general issues effecting marine conservation we were able to sign up many new members.
People who visited the stall included locals, those from the mainland as well as visitors from Canada and the USA. We received some very generous donations towards our work (thanks to those of you who dug deep into their pockets) and raised funds from the sale of our DVD’s and the new mugs, coasters and money banks which were on sale for the first time.
The support and interest in COAST’s work spanned generations, continents and levels of knowledge and understanding of marine conservation issues and we hope that all who visited the stall felt that it was worthwhile.
